....in the eye of the beholder. We are constantly bombarded by images of skinny models and the looks of superiority thin women give; resulting in pressure to be thin or a certain size. However its up to each individual to decide what is attractive to them. I'm know never going to 7.5 stone again yet my thoughts sway between wishing I was thinner, just that half a stone lighter and loving the fact that I have distinctly athletic 'vintage' shape. Overall I'm happy being curvy, jive dancing in a vintage dress with stockings and suspenders, or pulling on a pair of tight 80s stone washed Levis. It leads me to question whether I'm attracted to the vintage look because it suits my shape, and if I wasn't the shape I am would I be into something else. Does our shape influence our life or does our life shape our body. Who knows maybe I just spent to long looking at my dads Pirelli calendar's when I was younger. To me attractive is a toned curve.
Nicki Minaj has teamed up with OPI to bring some fresh colours for early 2012. I'm particularly loving yellow for next spring/summer (wait till you see Black Neon SS12 Swimwear!!!)
To top it off London based 'The Illustrated Nail' aka Sophie Harris-Greenslade, one of the best nail artists around and an illustration graduate from Kingston University (another Kingston Uni grad, I'm guessing she didn't way finish back in 2001 like me!) has gone a step further and created these Minajesk designs. If you want your nails to say 'Oh yeah I know where it's at' book an appointment with 'The Illustrated Nail'
With her alter ego's, love of barbie pink, Lil Kim esk style, top hitting song "Your Love" Nicki Minaj has come to the forefront again for her image. V Magazine shows her with a striking combo of boobs and tribal make up. I neither like or dislike the pictures but I think its good to play with imagery, and self image and not take things to seriously.
In contrast to Nicki Minja, who's image I feel is perhaps stronger that her music, Jessie J packs a punch from both sides. Her unique sleek, powerful, slighly street style and amazing singing voice certainly stands out from the crowd. I have to admit I do like her big hit 'Do it like a dude' however I think she sets the stage on fire when she sings a cappella. Jessie J flys the flag for the UK big time!! I'm really looking forward seeing what she's got in store for 2011.
