Modern Movement - Brockwell Lido

This weekend saw the annual Brockwell Lido,  Modern Movement Festival, celebrating 20th century design including the Big Jump. Unfortunatly on Saturday the weather was auful, and to start the open air swimming season off by jumping all together into an 11 degrees C pool, there were 10 of us! Needless to say I couldn't finish one length it was that cold, next time I'll be sensible and wear a wetsuit, not a Black Neon bikini!
Such a shame British weather isn't as great as our spirit! Over 500 people attended the event despite the rain!
Stall holders included Retro Bazaar and D H Restoration.

Tori Murphy - Getting Closer

Tori Murphy will be soon launching her first textiles collection at Pulse trade show from the 10th June 2012. I know how hard it is producing in the UK, and Tori has done fantastically. I can't wait to see the collection in its entirety, and get my hand on one of her blankets!

Best of British Cake

Made with the expert help of special lady for a friends special 'Best of British' theme birthday. Yes its sweet, chocolate, and fish and chips!

On Plate, Still Hungry

Friends come and go, from city to city but friendship remains. I managed to see Kat for about 1 minute, she was busy in the kitchen, a flying visit from New York! Great turn out for the launch, of a great concept; On Plate, Still Hungry. I particularly loved the visual representation of of cereal breakfast v's eggs, clearly weekend bring more time, more fry ups and a change from routine.
It was an interesting experience documenting food for a week, how the though of someone else seeing what you eat affects your eating choices, and also how you present the food you photograph.

Some meals from my week....

TONIGHT! On Plate, Still Hungry and Something I Ate LDN Launch Party

Looking forward to tonight's launch of a food diary project I've been involved in.
Protein is proud to present the launch of On Plate, Still Hungry - a new online food, drink, travel and culture magazine that sees a worldwide collective of writers, artists, chefs, designers, photographers, musicians and filmmakers share meals, stories, interviews and ideas on the daily.
OnPlateStillHungry.com presents exclusive stories from London to Los Angeles, New York to Buenos Aires, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Manila, Austin, Tokyo and more, following guest columnists and contributors across food, drink and travel. Serving up a creative community of individuals who, like all of us, are experiencing food in their own candid and intimate ways. It's about representing modern food culture with a fresh, new voice.
To coincide with the magazine's live launch, Something I Ate comes to London for the first time. A seasonal food + art event series that mirrors the community and contributor aspect of On Plate, Still Hungry, founded in Brooklyn in 2011.
Something I Ate, On Plate, Still Hungry and Protein invited 47 of our favourite London-based people across food, drink, music, media, art, fashion, film and photography to document a week's worth of eating. Three photos a day of breakfast, lunch and dinner. 987 photographs of the good, the bad and the tasty, being collated into a large-scale data art installation designed by Protein at our 18 Hewett Street gallery - part snapshot diary, part data visualisation of London's eating habits, part self motivation to eat more vegetables.
Inspired by the individuals and the food data collated, Something I Ate's New York chef Sam Kim will be flying over to create a mini menu served up on the opening night, with music by London's own globally endowed music and art label, Earnest Endeavours.
Curated by Freddie Janssen, Terence Teh, Kat Popiel, Helen Ralli, Med Lacoste, Jonathan Fagan, Sarah Pearson Data visualisation designed by Protein Food by Sam Kim

Essex and Suffolk Hunt Point to Point

Saturday 7th April 2012 Higham Racecourse
Great day out, a lot more organised than I remember from my youth in Northumberland: the horses back then went across a course from a church, to a tree or something (point to point) not just around a race track. Never the less a really fun way to spend a day over easter.
